Every placement norm in the catalog is backed by an official source. Below are the documents used for this country — building codes, sanitary and fire-safety rules.

- Setbacks (retranqueos) to boundaries — no fixed national figure; set by municipal PGOU / ordinances, commonly ~3 m
- Spanish Civil Code, Article 590 (constructions near a neighbour's wall: wells, sewers, ovens, chimneys, stables, corrosive deposits) — distances per local regulations/customs
- Septic / wastewater discharge regulated by Water Law (RDL 1/2001), requires administrative authorization
- Well-to-septic / contamination separation: at least ~20 m recommended (more if groundwater flows toward the well)
- Septic tank distances: ~5–6 m to dwelling, ~30 m to potable water well (recommended)
- Madrid: fire on forest land prohibited; barbecue within 50 m of forest needs prior notice; high-risk season 15 Jun–30 Sep
- Andalusia: total ban on outdoor fire/barbecue in forest zones 1 Jun–15 Oct
