Compost distance to well and boundary — Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan

The current sanitary rule treats compost as a possible pollution source: place a non-centralized drinking-water intake at least 50 m upstream in groundwater flow. It does not establish one universal compost-to-house or boundary number.

Distances and rules

A compost heap or manure pile is placed away from any drinking-water source so that organics and seepage do not reach a well or borehole, and with a setback from the boundary so odour and moisture do not disturb the neighbour.

To non-centralized drinking-water intake At least 50 m, with the intake upstream in groundwater flow Kazakhstan — sanitary rules for drinking-water sources (Order No. 26, current Adilet text)

Important limitation

This is a planning aid, not a legal opinion. Before construction, check the local land-use rules, easements, the network/utility operator’s requirements and neighbour buildings.
