Sanitation
Outdoor toilet distance to well and house
Austria
There is no single nationwide setback for this zone. Building and neighbour rules differ by federal state and can be refined by the municipal zoning and development plan. Check the current state law and the authority responsible for the exact parcel.
Distances and rules
An outdoor toilet or cesspit is placed well away from any drinking-water source so that seepage cannot reach a well or borehole, and at a distance from dwellings — your own and the neighbour’s — for sanitary reasons and to keep odour away.
Official parcel check
Confirm the distance under the current Bauordnung, zoning/development plan and the competent municipal or district authority.

Important limitation
This is a planning aid, not a legal opinion. Before construction, check the local land-use rules, easements, the network/utility operator’s requirements and neighbour buildings.
