Setbacks

Building setback from a road and the roadside strip

Russia

About 5 m from the street red line; a 25–75 m roadside strip along regional/federal roads outside settlements.

Distances and rules

A public road has red lines and a building setback. Near a street the building is set back from the red line; along regional or federal roads a wider roadside strip restricts construction. A public road is part of the urban-development plan — unlike a garden path.

From the street red line At least 5 m (3 m from a driveway); guideline SP 30-102-99 Local rules
Roadside strip (regional/federal) 25–75 m outside settlements — construction is restricted Russia — Federal Law No. 257-FZ on roads (roadside strips)
Inside settlements / streets The roadside strip does not apply — the red-line setback governs Local rules

Important limitation

This is a planning aid, not a legal opinion. Before construction, check the local land-use rules, easements, the network/utility operator’s requirements and neighbour buildings.
